TikTok engagement rates are off the charts, and with over a billion users, the app is the perfect platform to experiment with your content creation. Read on to learn how, and why, influencers should add TikTok to their Social Media presence.



What Does The TikTok Market Look Like?

With over 1 billion users, TikTok is definitely more than a fad. It’s no secret that content creators stand to benefit from the platform, but how? With only 4% of US marketers advertising on TikTok, the platform is a red hot opportunity for social media entrepreneurs. 


TikTok is full of fun dance-offs, goofy videos, and casual vlogs. With a decidedly more casual feel than Instagram, TikTok users gravitate more towards playful videos, as opposed to the beautiful, curated content common to Instagram. The goofy video landscape may have something to do with user demographics - 60% of TikTok users age between 16-24 (Gen Z). 


Since its inception in 2012, TikTok has amassed its own Influencers, unique to the TikTok platform. TikTok does offer analytics, available for pro accounts. If you're an Instagram Influencer, use TikTok for cross-promotion. Posting to a new platform can a great way to connect with new users and expand overall online presence for established Instagram Influencers.

Pro-Tip: Brands like to see Influencers present on a variety of channels, because it lets them invest in a more developed portfolio. So, make sure to include links to all the different platforms you produce content to in your next pitch!

If TikTok already has its own group of influencers, why should Instagram Influencers cross over to TikTok? TikTok offers immediate access to Gen Z, an audience Influencers might not be capturing on Instagram alone. Though Gen Z may have low spending power now, in just a few years, they’ll be the target market for products influencers are promoting on Instagram. Connecting with Gen Z in a non-commercialized environment is a great opportunity for Influencers to effectively grow their audience.


Speaking of growing audiences, TikTok enables an amazing organic reach (something long gone on Instagram). On TikTok, the average engagement rate is 29%. High engagement rates ensure that quality content will be seen - offering Influencers an amazing chance to connect with new followers.
